Description
Kehrsatz features excellent individual buildings including the castle and the two country estates Blumenhof and Loon. The latter today serves as a guesthouse for high-ranking Federal Council guests. From the S-Bahn station, head directly uphill and climb steeply on the old Kühlewilweg through the Tannacker residential quarter to the Kühlewil nursing home. Then follow a road across to Englisberg, which also boasts a considerable stock of buildings with its farms, bakehouses, and granaries. Now begins the magnificent high-altitude hike below the lower Längenbergstrasse with ever-changing views of the city of Bern, the Jura, the Emmental hills, and the mountain giants of the Bernese Oberland. Individual farms and small hamlets are also along the way, such as Winzenried (35 min to Belp), Rossweid (20 min to Zimmerwald), Falebach (20 min to Niedermuhlern; 35 min to Toffen), and Guetebrünne (25 min to Kaufdorf). The view from point 791 (25 min to Hasli) into the wide Thunersee area with its majestic mountain backdrop is incomparable. There are two more highlights on the way: the exhibitions at the Abegg Foundation, whose textile and art collection amazes even experts, and the romantic, geologically interesting path along the Mühlibach to Mühlethurnen.
