Description
From west to east, from Lake Geneva to Lake Constance – and all this by bike: The "Heart Route" aims to bring tourists closer to the cycling country Switzerland.
The last stage begins in the romantic wine-growing town of Altstätten. Here, a final strong pedal push is made. Made it – at the 1,100-meter-high St.Anton, cyclists are rewarded with a spectacular view of the St.Gallen Rhine Valley. The ride continues downhill to Walzenhausen. The fantastic view remains, only the landscape changes: instead of the Rhine Valley, cyclists enjoy a fantastic view of Lake Constance, Germany, and Austria. Soon, the historic Kornhaus, the landmark of Rorschach, also comes into view. Here, in this charming harbor town on the southernmost bay of Lake Constance, the Heart Route ends. But the stay in the St.Gallen-Bodensee region should not end here. With its historic wooden bathing establishment and its unique XXL sand sculptures, Rorschach enchants tourists and locals alike every year. And a visit should also be paid to the nearby UNESCO World Heritage city St.Gallen – the capital of Eastern Switzerland – with its world-famous Abbey Library and baroque cathedral.
