Description
Hallwilersee is not only a recreational paradise for us humans. The almost undeveloped shoreline provides habitat for a large number of plant and animal species. Over 150 bird species alone have been recorded in the Boniswilerried. Therefore, the lake with its surrounding wet and marsh areas is part of the "Federal Inventory of Landscapes and Natural Monuments of National Importance." On the approximately 5-hour circuit, you will encounter not only pristine nature. In Beinwil or Meisterschwanden, for example, many water sports options are available. And at the northern end of the lake, impressive cultural treasures await you. Plan a few hours for a visit to Hallwyl Water Castle with its atmospheric castle courtyard and exciting exhibition. Also, at the northern end of the lake, you will find a prehistoric site with a reconstructed pile dwelling. Since 2011, the site has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage of prehistoric pile dwellings around the Alps. Continue along beautiful vineyards and magnificent alpine scenery on the horizon. And whenever you feel the need to rest, you will come across a nice fire pit, a cozy outdoor pool, or a charming place by the water.
