Hahnensee Trail

Description
The starting point of the route is St. Moritz Bad, from where you ride the first few meters on the main road towards Champfèr, then soon turn left towards the former ski jump facility (ski jump area). You then climb up a gravel road to the small Lej Nair and thus reach Surlej. Those traveling early in the morning or late in the afternoon preferably take the Corvatsch cable car to Murtèl (bike transport only possible on the first and last connection of the day). Otherwise, you rely on your own muscle power. You then climb on a gravel road to Margun Surlej, where the ascent becomes mercilessly steep for a stretch. This gravel road leads up to Fuorcla Surlej, the highest point of the Hahnensee route. The panorama from here of the Bernina group is simply breathtaking. The descent then leads a few meters on singletrails alongside the ascent route, with the Hahnensee Trail branching off to the right shortly after. This is very challenging and only rideable for very skilled mountain bikers – although there are also some sections where you have to get off the bike – but above all, it offers a scenery that is unique. The view of the Upper Engadin lakes is nowhere better than here! The trail descends steeply in places to the Hahnensee (Rhaeto-Romanic: Lej dals Chöds), then becomes somewhat flatter to lead on a direct route at the fork at Gianda Naira down to St. Moritz Bad.
