Description
From Brugg, the route follows the Aare along, across to the Reuss and at their impressive confluence over the bridge to Turgi. The challenging ascent through the cool forest up to the Gebenstorfer Horn is richly rewarded: on the north side stretches the impressive water castle of Switzerland. In the middle of a single large floodplain area, the Aare, Reuss, and Limmat rivers meet. A relaxing path leads to Baldegg. From the water tower, there is a wonderful panoramic view over the Swiss Plateau to the Säntis. An easy forest path leads to the historically significant Stein ruin, where in 1308 a Habsburg family celebration is said to have had deadly consequences. The old town of Baden is one of the most beautiful townscapes in Switzerland and invites you to stroll.
