Description

Numerous paths lead onto and around Bern's local mountain. One of these paths is the «Grand Circular Route», laid out as a marked circular hiking trail. It initially runs along the Gurten meadow to the East Signal, from where you can enjoy an impressive view of the Alpine range. Then it goes slightly downhill to Studholz, and the path curves along the edge of the forest back towards Gurten Kulm. Before relaxing in the restaurant or taking the Gurtenbahn back down, you should definitely climb the Gurten Tower. The viewing tower offers a fantastic panoramic view, including picturesque views of the city of Bern and the distant high Alps.

On the car-free Gurten, hikers and walkers can enjoy a varied range of routes throughout the year. Whether with or without the support of the Gurtenbahn – here you can enjoy nature both in summer and winter. The Gurtenbahn operates from 7:00 a.m. at quarter-hour intervals uphill.
