Gsteig - Walliser Wispile (1982 m above sea level)

The route starts in Gsteig and first follows the "Innere Saaligrabe" and then the "Ussere Saaligrabe" towards "Chrine". The route leads uphill through idyllic winter landscapes and through the fir forest. After the Chrine pass, it continues below the west side of the ridge back onto the "Hinderi Wispile". From here, the ascent continues southwards to the flat summit of the Walliser Wispile.

The ascent is rewarded with a magnificent panorama of the surrounding mountain landscape and the charming little village of Gsteig lying deep in the valley below. Particularly impressive is the imposing pyramid of the Spitzhorn, which towers directly in front of the tour participants.

After a short (or even a bit longer) break, a beautiful descent back to the valley awaits as a reward. This either follows the ascent track, or for those wishing a different route, goes via "Vorderi Wispile" and "Längmatte" back to Gsteig. Alternatively, the descent leads down the other side to Lauenen.
