Grüningen – Adletshusen – Grüningen: “Around the Lützelsee”

Best Time of Year
Description
You start the Lützelsee round at the "Im Haufland" bus stop in Grüningen. Passing the cemetery and a pasture with fallow deer, follow the signs towards the botanical garden. Then turn right between Itzikon and the botanical garden onto Emil Gehri-Weg. After a short forest section, you will find yourself at a renaturalized fen.
Attentive observers can spot alpine newts or the tadpoles of a grass frog among water lilies and ragged robin here. The path then leads to Hasel on the shore of the Lützelsee. From afar, its heraldic animals are recognizable: the storks that nest on the roofs and trees of Hasel or stride through the meadows in search of food. Some of them have even started spending the winter here recently.
The path now continues to the left around the lake past sheep pastures. The animals spend the summer on the alp, so you can fully enjoy the view of the sparkling lake. After all, it is on the list of protected moor landscapes of special beauty and national importance! Along the lakeshore, you pass the Lutiker Ried and return to Hasel, where you turn left after the garden café. At the forest edge, the path leads to the hamlet of Reipen. After the last house, turn left through the forest and then left again back to Grüningen. If you have some time left, be sure to take a walk through the historic town before heading home.
