Description
This varied snowshoe hike starts at 1072 m above sea level and initially leads gently downhill from the Bergrestaurant Stierenberg towards Wäsmeli. Past the parking lot here and continuing over a pasture. Now we follow a slightly hilly forest path that steadily becomes steeper towards Gländerwägli. Then we reach a first high plateau above 1200 m above sea level and see the mountain range of the Chasserals to the west. The snowshoe hike now proceeds eastward passing above the Bergrestaurant Tiefmatt. Among sinkholes and firs, soon Längschwang is reached, where a memorial stone commemorates former Federal Councilor Willi Ritschard. Here begins a steep descent to the valley station of the ski lift and an equally steep ascent to the Bergrestaurant Untergrenchenberg.
On the Grenchen mountains there is also a small, charming ski area; night skiing is also possible there. Furthermore, you can go sledding and winter hiking. Current winter flyers with all information about activities in the winter paradise Grenchenberge are available at the tourist office in Grenchen. There you can also find information about guided snowshoe tours and snowshoe courses.
