Description

Stage 6 leads from Ilanz on the Rhine route number 2, initially along the river (and the Rhaetian railway line), always gently uphill.

Immediately afterwards, you switch to the right-hand side of the Rhine in Danis. Here you should make a small detour towards the village, as Switzerland's first street art hostel, the Autra Caussa, is located directly on the road. A tour around the building is well worthwhile.

The next stopover also offers a special art experience: OGNA is the name of the largest walk-in sculpture in Switzerland, which the artist Matias Spescha has erected in his birthplace of Trun.

The route continues via Surrein to Disentis and then climbs more steeply over the last few kilometres, as the village is already at an altitude of 1,130 metres. The townscape is characterised from afar by the monumental building of the 1,400-year-old Benedictine monastery.
