Girenbad – Bachtel: "Hike at the Bachtel for young and old"

The Zurich Oberland local mountain is known for its Bachtel tower and the fantastic view of the Alps and Lake Zurich. But not only because of the view is a trip uphill worthwhile – numerous adventures await along the way.

The hike starts and ends at Hinwil Langmatt (stop). First, follow the hiking trail along the pass road, where after about 600 m you turn right onto a forest road. The path through the magical forest leads you to the Bachtel at 1115 m above sea level. At the top of the summit, the Restaurant Bachtel-Kulm awaits with culinary delights on the sunny terrace or in the wooden parlor and a chain carousel for the little ones. 166 steps lead up to the viewing platform of the Bachtel tower, where you will be rewarded with a wonderful panorama.

Continue following the signs towards Unterbachtel, partly through the forest. After about half an hour, you reach the legendary Bachtelspalt. It is said that the crack is slowly closing again. Who dares to climb down into the crevice? Those who manage to leave the meter-high conglomerate groove in time will appreciate the Alpenbad in the hot wooden tub with fondue all the more. Then continue descending via Orn back towards Hinwil Langmatt.
