Gimmelen Trail

From the station of the Schilthorn cable car in Mürren, follow the winter hiking trail up towards Gimmelen until the start of the actual snowshoe trail on the Obere Brüch. The trail now gently ascends through a mystically snow-covered forest to the junction at the Obere Gimmelwalder Allmi. Now you have the choice: either take a loop downhill into the valley over snowy pastures and through the forest past small, sun-bleached barns and Alpine huts to the Gimmelen restaurant. Or take the direct route (Direttissima) through the small woodland up to the Gimmelen restaurant. Or hike downhill through the forest to the Gimmelwalder Allmi, which offers a wonderful view of Gimmelwald and the rear Lauterbrunnen valley. From there, follow an evenly descending path down to Gimmelwald. For the return trip from the Gimmelen restaurant, either go back to the junction at the Obere Gimmelwalder Allmi and decide there whether to walk to Mürren or Gimmelwald, or alternatively take the prepared winter hiking trail from the restaurant Gimmelen to Mürren.
