Description

The Gallusweg starts at Arbon station. At the Gallus chapel, the Gallus stone can be visited, on which the monk’s footprints can be seen. The route continues along the shore of Lake Constance to the village of Steinach and then through meadows and forests along the river of the same name.

After the impressive section through the Galgentobel, you reach the city of St. Gallen, more precisely the Neudorf district. From here you get onto beautiful neighborhood streets to the germ cell of the city, to the start of the Mühlenenschlucht, where Gallus founded his hermitage in the year 612 after a fall into a thorn bush and an encounter with a bear, thus laying the foundation for the city and canton of St. Gallen. Then it goes through the charming alleys of the old town and past the Abbey district of St. Gallen to the main station, the end point of this hike.
