Description

Already the approach on the Silvretta High Alpine Road with its 26 hairpin bends from the toll station (1113 m) up to the Vermunt reservoir (1753 m) sets the tone for the alpine hike. From the Obervermunt power station, the marked route leads over the Hochmadererjoch (2505 m) to the Tübinger Hütte. It continues over the remains of the Platten glacier up to the Plattenjoch (2728 m) on the Swiss border. Here a detour of about 30 minutes to the Western Plattenspitze (2883 m) is worthwhile, a magnificent viewpoint.

The increasingly difficult glacier passage to the Saarbrücken Hut via the Schweizer glacier to the Schweizer Lücke and through the Kromer glacier was replaced by a new safe route recommendation. On a safe path we reach the Saarbücker Hütte.
