Description
From the PostBus stop "Stels Mottis" you first follow the mountain road towards Stelserberg. After 800 m, turn right at point 1544 and reach Stelsersee via beautiful reed meadows and alpine paths. In this nature reserve owned by Pro Natura lies the highest Swiss location of the white water lily. Around Stelsersee, you can admire numerous other rare flowers. The path then leads moderately uphill over alpine meadows to the saddle, where there is a horizontal junction option towards Alp Valpun. However, you continue straight on the ridge path and, after a steep section, reach a high plateau with a magnificent view of both sides of the valley. Shortly after Gafäll (2042 m) the path forks again: left down to Valpun, straight up over the ridge to the summit goal, or turning right towards Alpbüel and Pany. The ridge ascent of about 150 meters in height leads to the viewpoint Chrüz at 2195 m, from where you also get a view into the St. Antönien mountains and to the Rätschenfluh - the panoramic view is unique!
On the descent, follow the path to Alp Valpun (drinks stand during the alpine season) and then through reed and forest areas down to Aschüel (alpine bus stop). From here, cross briefly over the road, then turn right on the hiking trail to St. Antönien Platz.
