Description

At the starting point at the Sparenmoos mountain house, take the route to the intermediate destination Rellerligrat. This part is a pleasant and safe high-altitude trail. After a few steps, there is a rest area with a fire pit. Up to Nüjeberg, the hike leads uphill alternately on the road or across grassland, marked as a hiking trail. Three themed trails with explanatory boards provide information about the moorland, wildlife, and culture/tradition. The view sweeps over the mountain peaks bordering the Simmental. At the Nüjeberg signpost, the marking changes to mountain hiking trail. It continues without major elevation changes on alpine paths and trails to the saddle at Luegle. Now the view to the west opens to the Fribourg Alps and the Gastlosen. The following section up to Bire vividly illustrates natural hazards: due to a landslide, the path had to be relocated. Passing Chaltläger and Hugeligrat, you reach the Rellerligrat. Here you can see Gstaad, Rinderberg, Hornflue, Wasseregrat, and Höji Wispie. At Rellerligrat, take the route to Saanen. Descend over alpine pastures to Gspan. Here turn left to the next intermediate destination Grüebli, which you reach over an alpine pasture. From Grüebli, follow the signposts to Saanen. An alpine path leads down to Underbort. On a footpath, later on roads, you pass the church and go through the well-preserved village to the destination at Saanen train station.
