Description
The path starting in Basel-Riehen leads after just a few minutes to the 18th-century pleasure palace Wenkenhof, surrounded by a large English park and a small French-style garden. The 15th-century Protestant reformed church of St. Chrischona awaits us in a prominent location with its magnificent viewing terrace for rest. After a short hike, the also 15th-century Wasserschloss Inzlingen offers the crowning "dessert". The last stage on beautiful forest paths leads over Buttenberg, Iron Hand, and Schädelberg to Lörrach. In Hebelpark, a life-sized statue of the Alemannic local poet Johann Peter Hebel recalls one of the city's most important personalities. The long-serving mayor Egon Hugenschmidt also erected a monument to himself: the 17-storey town hall called "Langer Egon".
