From Moutier to the Thal Nature Park

Moutier, the main town of the Bernese Jura, is conveniently reachable by train from Solothurn. The path first passes state-run farms and typical Jura meadows. Over a strenuous zigzag path and two steep metal stairways, you reach the Graitery. From there it goes more leisurely. Crossing the cantonal and language border, you hike over the Loge aux Boeuf, where cattle are summered, to the popular mountain restaurant Oberdörfer. After a rest, a steady descent follows: past the Backihaus to Gänsbrunnen to the local train station. This route is also a perfect public transport hike, as from Gänsbrunnen the train takes you back to Moutier or further on to Solothurn in a few minutes.
