Description

The start of this route is on Felsenstrasse. From there, enjoy the view of the monastery quarter and the Rosenberg side. Here you have the best view of the old town. Now follow the route. Soon you will reach Karlstor, the only remaining city gate, built in 1569/1570. Experience the unevenness of the stones as you walk through the gate. From here, choose the passage through the government building. Now the most beautiful view of Domwiese and the cathedral opens up to you. It is worth visiting this, as well as the abbey library. The next stop is St. Laurenzen Church. It is worth climbing the 186 stairs in the church tower here. Cover your ears if the bells start ringing! At the top, you will have a magnificent view of the old town. Opening hours can be found at ref-sgc.ch. Continue through the old town to the market square and up Metzgergasse. Then follows the ascent taken daily by hundreds of students, namely up the Dohlengässlein. Since 2023, the lower part is called the Climate Stairs. The higher you climb, the warmer you get, or rather the warmer the individual steps show. At the top, you are on the university campus. In the main building, you will find countless stairs, some of which are architecturally very interesting. Outside again, go up to the new university building called "Square." Here you also find impressive stairs inside the building.

Here the route ends.
