Description
Starting in Muri for this stage, a visit to the mighty monastery, inhabited by Benedictine monks until 1841, is already a good tip. Then following the Bünz to Murimoos with its popular children's playground. Shortly after Murimoos, we reach the moraine with the Chapf, an original monastery inn of the nearby Benedictine Abbey of Muri. The Chapf also offers a wide view over the Reuss valley, the Zug region, and the Central Swiss mountains. Now we cross the area of the former Bünz lake formed at the end of the Ice Age. After its silting up, a raised bog developed, which in the 19th and 20th centuries was transformed by peat cutters into the present cultural landscape through arduous work.
The next cultural highlight is the artists' house near the old church in Boswil, which today offers outstanding concerts, youth projects, and continuing education opportunities as a music centre. Past the parish church of Bünzen, the path leads into the Dickhau, where a signpost invites you to a short detour to the Lourdes grotto of Besenbüren. Soon you arrive at the Hermetschwil monastery, where a short meditation in the church or the purchase of organic own products in the monastery shop is possible. From the bridge over the Reuss, you have a nice view of the Flachsee and the monastery. Shortly after the Dominiloch bridge, an information board points to the pre-Christian Celtic site.
Passing the Emmaus chapel, the medieval town of Bremgarten is reached. Despite somewhat tired legs, an extensive city tour should not be missed.
