Freiämterweg: Lindenberg variant

Description
Ancient wooden houses have become rare in the Freiamt; in Buttwil there is still one, the “Kochhaus” from the year 1791. The modern sculpture of the Freiämterstein above Boswil commemorates the 1991 anniversary (700 years of the Swiss Confederation). A highlight of this route is the uniquely beautiful forest ponds of Feldenmoos above Boswil, where peat was still dug in the last century. Today this is a fascinating nature reserve.
The old sawmill in Wissenbach, where beams for the Muri monastery were already sawn in the Middle Ages, is now a foam museum. On Horben stands the “castle” (private), which once belonged to the Muri monastery. The chapel in honor of Saints Wendelin and Ubaldus, however, can be visited. Finally, the view of the Pre-Alps, Lake Zug and deep into Central Switzerland is magnificent.
