Description

You start the hike at Neue Forch station on the Forchbahn and walk past the Findlingsgarten Vogelbächli, up to the hill where the Wehrmännerdenkmal awaits you. The artist Otto Zollinger designed the monument in the form of a large, stylized flame. Since 1922 it commemorates the victims of the First World War.

Continue hiking until the Buechholzweg and Wassbergstrasse intersect. A detour to the left to Hotel Wassberg is worth it. From the Wassberg you can enjoy the panorama that stretches over Lake Greifen, the Glarus Alps, and the Säntis. After a rest at the restaurant, the path leads back a little and then down via Forch, along the Bachtobel to Maur. Refresh yourself at the Stall-Stube in Maur or discover the local history and delve into the Maur Museums. Then enjoy a short boat trip, which takes you to the other side to Uster. The crossing of the lake with the Greifensee Shipping Cooperative is possible all year round.

The path from here to Uster station takes you along the industrial trail with many interesting information boards, past Uster city park. To end your hike comfortably, we recommend coffee and a light snack at Restaurant 8610, at Hotel Restaurant Ochsen, or on the rooftop terrace of the Ustaria Bar in the Hotel Illuster.

Note: The route often follows paved surfaces.
