Description
High above the Domleschg at 1470 m above sea level, Feldis can be easily reached from Rhäzüns by cable car. The marked Flower Walk begins at the edge of the village and leads through species-rich semi-dry meadows: Turk’s cap lilies, various orchids, large speedwell, and willow-leaved eyebright line the path and enchant the semi-dry meadows in summer with a colorful sea of blossoms. The hiking trail then continues through an open, grazed larch forest and a fern-rich spruce forest back to Feldis. Two short side trips off the circular route are worthwhile: The first leads to a large erratic boulder deposited by the Albula glacier during the last Ice Age and now lies in the middle of the larch forest. The second leads to the “Thusis viewpoint,” offering a magnificent view of Domleschg and Thusis – where a picnic area with a barbecue spot invites you to linger.
