Fischingen – Rapperswil SG: «ViaJacobi – Stage 23»

For this stage, start at Fischingen Monastery. On the southwest corner of the monastery, cross the Murg on the main road and turn left. The path leads over the Aubach stream in a southerly direction up to Neuschüür. Here you walk through the forest and along the Aubach to Au. About 100 meters past the village, turn left onto a mountain road leading into the woods. This is where the actual ascent to the Hörnli begins.

Along the way, you pass Allenwinden and the Dreiländerstein, where the three cantons of Zürich, Thurgau, and St. Gallen border each other. At the Hörnli mountain inn, a fantastic view of Toggenburg, Central Switzerland, and Säntis awaits you. After a restful break, continue down over the Tanzplatz to Steg in the Töss Valley. From here, follow the Tösstalstrasse to Fischenthal and finally along the Fistelstrasse to Gibswil. From there, pass by many small hamlets to Dürnten, cross the Jona, and then reach Rapperswil via Rüti.
