Description
The hike takes place entirely in the Bernese area, as the cantonal boundary is not at the pass summit but just under 2 km further west. At the start of the hike at the Jaunpass Restaurant bus stop, the route to the intermediate destination Sparemoos applies. Marked as a hiking trail, this section is pleasant and safe to walk. You ascend to Oberenegg on an alp road. Some shortcuts across alpine pastures allow you to partially avoid sections on hard surfaces. Now a high-altitude hike follows. The view ranges from the Gantrisch range with the Stockhorn to the High Alps with the Wildstrubel and the Plaine Morte glacier. Further on, you hike on an alpine path, then on a trail over pastures and through forest. At Nüjeberg, you reach the Sparemoos moorland. It is of national significance and therefore specially protected. Three themed trails provide information about the moorland, wildlife, customs, and much more. At the Sparenmoos mountain hotel, follow the signpost Schauenegg, now marked as a mountain hiking trail. After a short stretch on the mountain road, turn right. On the right, the Schwarzesee lake appears. An alp road leads to the Hindere Schwarzesee alp. Then the descent takes place over alpine pastures to Schauenegg. Here the route turns left into the forest. Afterwards, the hiking goal Zweisimmen appears. You reach it passing Chäleweid and Hohliebi. The route, now marked as a hiking trail again, leads over pastures, paths, a short stretch on a forest road and finally through the village to the train station.
