Description
From Lungern you take the aerial cableway up to Turren where the actual hike starts. Along the Butterfly Trail, the path leads to the Dundelegg. In the area between Schönbüel and Lake Lungern, 115 diurnal large butterflies have been recorded so far. This great variety is unique in Switzerland and is due to the diverse landscape with steep slopes.
Then follows the descent to Fluonalp where a fine "Zvieri" and dinner await you in the charming Alpbeizli and Fluonalp dairy. Highly recommended are the unique "Hindersimagronen" from the Fluonalp team. In autumn, local game is also served. The alpine dairy can be visited and by prior arrangement you can even make your own cheese. Cozy rooms with lots of wood and mountain views invite you to a peaceful night. Early in the morning there is reveille and you hike for about 50 minutes up the mighty Giswilerstock to the summit cross. This hiking detour rewards you with a magnificent, breathtaking sunrise over the Sarneraatal. Obwalden wakes up.
After a fine mountain breakfast at Fluonalp, the walk starts towards Sädel where once again you can enjoy the fantastic view over the entire Sarneraatal. The return route to the mountain station of the Lungern-Turren cable car leads through the Ägerten forest.
