Description
The oldest National Park of Switzerland is located in the southeast, in the Engadin, and is a true paradise for hikers and nature lovers. Our route leads right through this picturesque region, which consists of alpine and high alpine terrain. The area is characterized by little precipitation, large temperature fluctuations, and low humidity. It is almost certain that we will see wildlife along the way: ibex, chamois, roe deer, foxes, marmots, or eagles. We walk over high passes (up to 2857 m), and Piz Daint (2968 m) is among the possibilities. We also may climb two other three-thousanders, Piz Quattervals and Piz Lischana. The area has no large glaciers, but the route passes near almost all types of alpine terrain, such as snow slopes, scree and grass slopes, and scrambling sections. It is not always possible to use mountain huts, sometimes it is necessary to stay overnight in high-altitude mountain hotels.
Note: This route has previously been promoted by the NKBV. Due to possible changing conditions, you are always responsible for checking the current route conditions yourself. Have yourself informed at the local tourist office or by the experts of the respective region to go safely and well prepared.
