Description
The Wine Route already offers a first highlight shortly after the start in Schaffhausen: the roaring waters of the Rhine Falls. Afterwards, it continues through the Zurich wine region. Before the route nestles against the Thur River at the border to Thurgau, a short break at the idyllic Husemersee is worthwhile. Through the wide valley plain of the Thur, on whose well-sunned flanks the vines for excellent Thurgau wine grow, the route leads to the Charterhouse Ittingen. Over Pfyn and along the foot of the vine-covered Ottenberg, you finally reach Weinfelden.
From Weinfelden, the route leads quickly through the green Thur meadows to Bischofszell. Then it continues to Hauptwil. Finally, the cantonal border follows, and the route leads to Gossau and then to the destination in the monastery city of St. Gallen.
