Description

At the beginning, the path leads over a paved road past old Walser houses to just before Frauentobel, which is crossed over the pedestrian bridge of the Frauentobelbrücke. The Frauentobelbrücke was designed by the renowned bridge architect Jürg Conzett. Upon arrival in the lively farming and artisan village of Peist, a detour to one of the taverns is worthwhile. The craftsmen from Peist were once known for their particular skillfulness. They were respectfully called «Peister Meister». On a walk through the village, traces from the golden age of the «Peister Meister» are visible. From Peist follows the ascent to Fatschél. This path passes the stable museum «Uf Truaja». In the typical Schanfigg stable, there is a collection of agricultural tools labeled in Walser dialect, making the stable museum a kind of linguistic time capsule. The stage destination is Fatschél, a small settlement with sun-weathered wooden houses and a clear view of the Gürgaletsch, the Alpstein, and the Weisshorn.
