Description
At the beginning, the trail leads along a tarmac road past old Walser houses until shortly before the Frauentobel, which is crossed via the Frauentobel Bridge footbridge. The Frauentobel bridge was designed by the well-known bridge architect Jürg Conzett. Once you arrive in the lively mining and craftsmen's village of Peist, it's worth stopping off at one of the broom taverns. The craftsmen from Peist used to be known for their special skills. A walk through the village reveals traces of the golden age of the "Peist masters". From Peist, the ascent to Fatschél follows. This path leads past the "Uf Truaja" barn museum, where the typical Schanfigger barn houses a collection of agricultural tools labelled in Walser dialect, making the barn museum a linguistic time capsule. The stage destination is Fatschél, a small settlement with sunburnt wooden houses and a clear view of the Gürgaletsch, the Alpstein and the Weisshorn.
