Description

The route begins at the Water Castle in Hagenwil, which was once the summer residence of the abbot of St. Gallen. After an easy ascent, the hike leads down into the town center of Amriswil.

Then it continues southeast, out of town. Across fields and forests, you reach the hamlet of Almensberg and the outskirts of the village Steinebrunn. In the hamlet Olmishausen is the Öpfel farm, where typical Thurgau apple rings are produced, among other things. South along Winzelisberg, over Gristenbühl, and through several typical Thurgau hamlets, the route leads eastward, often right through expansive and splendid orchards.

Next, the Feilenbach is crossed and the path runs along its rich riparian forest. After crossing the Arbon-Meggenhus motorway feeder, you reach the harbor of Arbon in a short time. The lakeside town was not only the most important harbor town in the Diocese of Konstanz but also a preferred residence of the bishops.
