Description
From the post office in Brigels, the route leads through the village with the parish church of Maria Himmelfahrt towards Cuort with the chapels of Sogn Martin and Sogn Sievi. It then goes up over Plumarscha and Spinatsch into the Ladral valley, where the old water-powered sawmill - Resgia Gneida - is located by the brook. Through the Maiensäss Ladinas you reach the village of Andiast with its village church and chapels.
On the Senda Sursilvana, you reach Curtginet with the valley station of the chairlift. On the road, take the field path to the left at point 1064 via Cantieni, near which in the forest are the remains of the ruins of Grünfels. After crossing the Flem stream by the old mill, you reach Waltensburg, a Protestant enclave famous for the frescoes by the "Waltensburg Master" in the village church. The hike can be supplemented with a detour to the castle ruins Munt Sogn Gieri and the stone pillars of a former gallows from the witch hunt era for further highlights.
On the way back via the scenic Munsaus path, a detour to the cave castle Grotta is worthwhile. The memorial stone at Crest la Crusch (Escherstein) commemorates the builders of this first passable Oberländer road from Rueun via Waltensburg to Brigels and Trun.
Further hiking suggestions from Andiast: Continue on the Senda Sursilvana towards Falera
