Description
One course each in three restaurants with creative and regional menus and a city walk past the highlights of Gallusstadt: this is the culinary city stroll through St.Gallen.
The culinary city stroll starts at the station in St.Gallen. The route then takes you past the Stadtlounge and the Abbey district (which you will see again later). The ascent begins via St.Georgen-Strasse and Wildeggstrasse over Speicherstrasse until you turn right through a forest. The Restaurant Scheitlinsbüchel pampers you with fresh, regional and seasonal cuisine. After the appetizer, a leisurely walk through the recreational area of the Drei Weieren follows. Did you know that the lakes were artificially created during the textile era to ensure the water supply for the textile bleaching and the fire brigades? The beautiful historic Art Nouveau wooden buildings on the current bathing ponds also recall St.Gallen's past as a textile world city. Stop at the photo spot of the Grand Tour of Switzerland and take a souvenir photo with a breathtaking view over the city. On the way, you enjoy a magnificent view over the city of St.Gallen and Lake Constance. You climb again via Falkenburgstrasse to the Restaurant Falkenburg. A delicious main course awaits you with a view over the city of St.Gallen. The fastest way back to the old town leads via Falkenburgweg, Berneggstrasse, Felsenstrasse and the lower Mühlen staircase. You pass Gallusplatz, the Abbey district, and the Tourist Information. Then walk through the Grabenpärkli with the striking red barrel from which water flows during the warm months. The artwork comes from Roman Signer and is called "Wasserturm". It is one of the city's landmarks and is now over 30 years old. Shortly afterwards, you meet at the Restaurant Brauwerk, the creative brewery of Schützengarten. A crowning conclusion awaits you. Enjoy the sweet dessert and one of the many craft beers brewed directly on site.
