Description
Take the Corvatsch cable car to the middle station Murtèl at 2698 m above sea level. Already here, you can enjoy a wonderful view over the Engadin lake plateau. Those who want to see the fabulous panoramic view far above the Upper Engadin mountains can ride to the Corvatsch mountain station at 3303 m. The hike starts at the middle station Murtèl. On a wide path you reach the Fuorcla Surlej in about 45 minutes. There opens a spectacular view of the Bernina massif. You look into a vast arena of ice and rock, with Piz Tschierva, Piz Morteratsch, Piz Bernina with the famous Biancograt, Piz Roseg and the Sella group in the background, surrounded by impressive glaciers. Around the Fuorcla Surlej are silent signs of the last Ice Age: round rocks marked by the ice masses, between which small lakes formed. From the Fuorcla Surlej the path leads down into Val Roseg with a grand view of the whole valley as well as the adjacent majestic glaciers. After about 2.5 hours of hiking through the enchanting beauty of this high valley, you reach the Hotel Restaurant Roseg Glacier. There you can decide whether to get back to Pontresina comfortably by horse-drawn carriage (about 1 hour) or on foot (about 1.5 hours).
