Description

The mountain hiking trail starts at the Trift mountain station. It first leads down to a stream, which you cross on a bridge. It then continues steadily uphill through a wild romantic area. At Bosslis Stein, the steep path branches off, leading directly up to the Windegg SAC hut. This is ignored and you continue further into the valley. Two small flat sections provide some rest. With some luck, you might even spot a weasel between the rocks. Soon after, a good opportunity for an adrenaline rush appears: crossing the Trift Bridge. This spectacular suspension bridge swings quite a bit the further you go on it. If you feel queasy, it's better to turn back early. You have to return anyway, as the route continues on this side of the suspension bridge. From the Trift Bridge, it leads along the so-called Ketteliweg. This is not really a path: the Ketteliweg mostly consists of red-white-red markings painted on the rocks. The chains giving the name provide support while climbing up – that is why this path is better ascended than descended. Once at the top, it is not far to the Windegg SAC hut. At the latest there you can clean your hands, which may smell somewhat due to the chains. The descent heads westward. After a short time, you reach the outbound path again. On this, you pass Bosslis Stein again on your way back to the Trift mountain station. There you take the second airy cable car ride of the day – the final adrenaline kick for anyone with a fear of heights.
