Description

From Elm, the Tschinglenbahn takes us through the impressive Tschinglenschlucht to the Tschinglenalp. Then it continues up to Firstboden. There you will find a round timber construction, the so-called Überschiebungsblick. From there, the path becomes technically more demanding, no longer marked red/white but blue/white as an alpine hiking trail. Soon the first climbing sections on fixed ropes follow, followed by a longer, exposed ridge hike. In about 2 1/2 hours, the Mittagshorn at 2,415m above sea level is reached. There you are rewarded with an incredible view of the Tschinglenhorn peaks with the Martinsloch and the Zwölfihörner. Deep down in the valley, like toy houses, lies the village of Elm. The path to the SAC Martinsmad hut then becomes somewhat easier. Now it's surely time for a break. For the descent from the Martinsmadhütte to the Tschinglenalp, concentration is required again. In difficult sections, wire ropes also help.
