Circular route Jaunpass - Oberenegg
Informationen zur Route
Best Time of Year
Description
A varied, easy winter hike starting and ending at the Jaunpass restaurant. A winter hike is always more strenuous than a comparable summer hike. Suitable equipment adapted to temperature and snow conditions is important. Clothing in layers is recommended. Most important are good, high, and warm shoes with a grippy sole. Hiking poles are almost a must as they make walking in snow much easier. A light backpack with some drink and snacks is also part of it.
By TPF bus you travel on the winding pass road through the snowy landscape to Jaunpass, restaurant. Here you take the winter hiking trail toward Oberenegg. At the beginning, the path is quite flat and easy to walk. Caution is advised when crossing the cross-country ski trail. Occasionally, snowshoers are also on the same path. Soon you have the rugged and impressive Gastlosen in view. Hiking them in summer is also an impressive experience. Now follow short, somewhat challenging ascents. The view of the lower and upper Simmental mountain panorama is impressive. Looking back you have the unique viewing point Bäderhorn in sight. The loop in the rear part of the hike can be walked in both directions. On the high plateau, you reach the highest point of the route at Oberenegg Läger, 1689 m. Here the path turns and you can enjoy the snowy mountain landscape and snow-laden trees going downhill without effort. Via Obere Houwe and the Chilmoos high moor you come to the cozy little inn "Bruch-Baragge" where you can rest and refresh in the beautiful landscape. The final stretch leads us to the TPF stop Jaunpass, restaurant with further dining options at the Taverne restaurant.
