Description
We start south of the high bridge at the Gurlaina playground on a direct path to the covered Inn bridge. At the Plaz mineral spring, we turn east and leave the historic village area after the Clozza bridge at Porta. Here, we slightly descend right towards Pradella to the iron bridge “Lischana” and the mineral spring of the same name - the magnesium-rich water is very popular among athletes. Now follows the wooded section (300 m elevation gain, 2.5 km) up to the San Jon height. Passing the riding stable, we walk downstream towards S-charl – initially parallel to the road through the forest and then about 800 m on the road. At point 1520, we leave the road and enter the forest to the right towards Plan Da Funtanas. We cross the wild romantic mountain brook Clemgia (pt. 1376) and climb up to the hamlet Avrona taking the rooty trail to the beautifully situated mountain lake Lai Nair underfoot. The subsequent descent via the “Mot da la Crusch” (Cross hill) offers a continuous view of the mighty Tarasp Castle. At Sgné, we briefly cross the main road, visit the legendary witch slab, and then enjoy the steep descent to Nairs. Upon reaching the valley floor, we see the Hotel Scuol Palace, the drinking hall “Büvetta,” and the source houses Carola and Sfondraz, the origin of Lower Engadine spa history. Along the traditional spa promenade, we finally return to Gurlaina.
