Circular hike Unteriberg-Hirsch-Breitplangg

The hike starts at the Guggelsstrasse bus stop on Minsterplatz at 928 meters above sea level in Unteriberg. Follow the signpost to "Hirsch/Schlund" along the road to the Minster bridge. At Sägenbrücke, the ascent on the mountain hiking trail begins. This winds through the forest and along the forest edge and offers a fantastic view of Unteriberg at the Hirschfluh viewpoint. At the stable on Hirschweid at 1245 meters above sea level, the highest point is reached. On the road towards Schlund, you will be greeted by another beautiful view over Breitried and the rear part of the Sihlsee. At Gitzieggen, you are in the middle of a peat bog and a cantonal biotope. The shelter Schrotwald is idyllically located at the forest edge towards middle Schrot. Besides the good infrastructure, the pleasantly cool surroundings invite you to linger. You can choose to return over Gitzieggen/Breitplangg/Ried to Unteriberg, the starting point, or hike through the forest to middle Schrot and further to Studen to the Dörfli bus stop.
