Cimetta Route

The cable car conveniently reaches Cardada, the local mountain of Locarno, which rises high above Lake Maggiore between the Valle Maggia and the Val Verzasca. The first part leads through the forest, then over scenic terrain along marked paths up towards Cima della Trosa. The first half of the ascent runs flat in a wide arc along the west side of the Cimetta. However, the majority of the elevation gain is tackled only in the second half. But for that, you are rewarded on the summit with an impressive 360-degree view. On the return from Cima della Trosa along the east side of the Cimetta, several mountain huts invite you for a cozy stop.
