Description

This hike also holds a geographical surprise: the village of Frieswil belongs to the municipality of Seedorf and is located “on the other side of the mountain” from there, Frienisberg. Near the village of Frienisberg lies the former Frienisberg monastery, which now houses a residential and nursing home. At the starting point of the hike, you follow the signposts to the Chutzen Tower. Ascending on roads, you reach the Frienisberg Forest. On the open section, it is worth stopping to enjoy the view from the Jura to the Alps. Then you reach the Chutzen Tower via forest paths. After about a year of construction, the inauguration took place on June 26, 2015. The tower is managed by the Chutzen Tower Association. At the time of construction, the “Chutzen” was the tallest wooden tower in Switzerland. From the three observation platforms, you can enjoy a panoramic view. A barbecue area is available for a break. Then follow the signposts towards Wahlendorf, which is first reached through the Frienisberg Forest past Weichel and then across open fields. At the Wahlendorf Usserdorf signpost, turn right towards Frieswil. First slightly uphill, then downhill through the Frienisberg Forest, along the forest edge and fields above Innerberg, passing another rest area at Juch, the circle of the circular hike closes shortly before Frieswil. You finally return to the village of Frieswil on a familiar path.
