Description

Drive north along Lake Uri on the impressive Axenstrasse. Passing through the old tunnels of the historic road and the steeply falling rock cliffs, you reach the village of Sisikon. Here you branch off to the idyllic Riemenstalden valley and start the ascent to Goldplangg. The nature reserve on both sides of the watershed is especially enchanting in spring due to the golden blossom. At the cozy alpine inn at Liplisbüel, you deserve a rest. Picturesque alpine pastures with cows, sheep, and the whistling of marmots accompany you on the way through the Chinzig valley. Over 200 years ago, the Russian General Suvorov crossed the arduous path over the Chinzig Pass with over 20,000 men to escape the French troops. Now you embark on the attractive descent from 2073 to 447 m, whereby the first section up to the Gisleralp is extremely challenging and only technically experienced bikers stay in the saddle the whole way. Then it goes up and down on the wide natural road, which ends with an attractive descent over the Eggberge and the Altdorf forest.

Note The route is continuously signposted with No. 417.
