Description

City and Nature

One thing is certain: the ascent to the Chänzelis is sometimes a bit steep, but it is really worth it! Because the views high above the city are unique and extend far into the region. The route passes a total of four viewpoints. Along the way, you will encounter a wide variety of local flora and fauna. And now and then a cozy fire pit appears where it's really nice to have a picnic.

History of the Chänzeli Route

For 2000 years, Baden has been the source of Switzerland's most mineral-rich thermal water. In the 16th century, bathing cures were established, and during the Belle Epoque, at the end of the 19th century, so-called “terrain cures” were part of the therapy offerings. The goal of “therapeutic hiking” was to strengthen the heart, circulation, and muscles. So the “Chänzelis” on the hills of the Klus were already popular excursion destinations back then.
