Description
The central Thurgau castle route starts in the charming town of Weinfelden. The landmark of Weinfelden, the castle, towers high above the little wine town. The path soon ascends and crosses the Ottenberg, richly covered with vines, before reaching Berg. Its landmark is also a castle, which is now used as a retirement home. From Berg, the route gently descends into the Thur valley to Sulgen.
From Sulgen, the path leads through the hamlets of Bleiken, Götighofen and Buchackern. Before the route passes the idyllic Biessenhofer pond, the castle Eppishausen, now also used as a retirement home, peeks out beyond the golf course. After Schocherswil and Räuchlisberg, the path crosses the Hudelmoos. Finally, it reaches the water castle in Hagenwil. Returning to the path, Amriswil is reached shortly afterwards.
