Description
From Riein, it usually goes gently uphill shortly after the start. The wide alpine meadows offer an ideal snowshoe terrain. In front of the Alp da Riein hut, you can wonderfully take an extended rest. The view of the Surselva mountain world is already phenomenal here. Through blueberry bushes, which hopefully are no longer visible, you now climb towards the summit slope. This has steep passages and requires experience in route choice in corresponding conditions. You can ascend through the steep north slope or over the shoulder. You now stand on the spacious summit of Cauma and can enjoy the phenomenal view.
The descent is taken via the same path. Small variants repeatedly make the descent exciting.
If you have appropriate local knowledge and experience in assessing avalanche danger, descents via Dutjer Alp and/or Alp da Sevgein are also possible.
