Cauma and Dutjer Horn from Riein

Description
From Riein, the tour begins with a gradual ascent. The wide alpine meadows already hint at the beautiful downhill slopes to come. Just before the Alp da Riein hut, it’s a great spot for a long break. The view of the Surselva mountain range is already spectacular here.
Afterward, the route ascends through blueberry bushes (hopefully no longer visible) toward the summit slope. This section has steep passages and requires route-finding experience under certain conditions. The ascent can be made either through the steep north slope or over the shoulder.
At the generous summit of Cauma, you can conclude the tour. The descent follows the ascent route back to Riein.
For those who enjoy a more alpine challenge, you can continue from the Cauma summit to Dutjer Horn. The initially wide shoulder narrows and becomes a steep ridge. Towards the end, you’ll often need to ascend without skis. This extension is especially worthwhile in very safe conditions, as it allows for a descent through the very steep north slopes toward Dutjer Alp. The difficulty increases at Dutjer Horn to AD to AD+ (Cauma: PD).
