Castle route along the Rheintaler Höhenweg

With breathtaking views of Lake Constance, vineyards, villages, and the Rhine Valley plain, the route passes by historic castles, fortresses, and Mariaberg monastery.

Especially in the spring and autumn months, the easy hike is recommended and delights the senses with warming sunshine and colorful deciduous trees. While the first stage goes through Rorschacherberg with views of Lake Constance and past four castles, a monastery, and various places to rest, the second part entices with fragrant vineyards in the wine paradise Rheintal. There you will also find magnificent castles and fortresses with barbecue areas for a break.

The hike can be shortened at any time by descending into the Rhine Valley or split into individual stages.
