Description
At 9:45 am the boat horn sounds in the Biel lakeside port. The boat glides comfortably over the still flat lake. A good introduction to the day as vineyards, villages and St. Peter’s Island pass by. At 11:00 am, the bus is changed at the post stop in La Neuveville (50 m to the right after the underpass) before, after the 1-hour ride above the tree line at the "Chasseral, Hôtel" station, the hiking boots are tied. On clear days the view extends over the Jura border lakes to Mont Blanc and the Bernese Alps. Starting with the panoramic-rich hike on the ridge path of the huge fold vault with the transmission tower at your back. After about 50 minutes, the Métairie (mountain inn) de L’Ile is reached. The Tarte de Crème is a delight! The detour after only 15 minutes to the Métairie d’Aarberg or shortly thereafter to the Métairie Chuffort is also recommended. The hiking trail now heads in the opposite direction with a view of the transmission tower. Passing cow pastures, forest paths, and shortly over hard surface. On the "Plateau de Diesse" extensive grain fields shape the landscape. After the Col de Son Mont (short, about 70 m ascent) the village of Lignières follows. Following the signpost it continues for about 1 hour through the magnificent Pilouvi gorge. A rock barricade is comfortably overcome via a wooden staircase and suddenly you stand amazed before impressive powerful waterfalls located on the Witch's Walk (Balade de la sorcière). The story tells that witches came here to bathe. Above the waterfall is a water basin called the "Lake of the Fairies." And soon it is only a few steps to the legendary little town of La Neuveville, where the boat departs back at 5:15 pm. Thomas Erne
