Description
The route starts by boat from Rorschach Hafen via Alten Rhein and ends in the town of Rheineck.
The round trip continues with the Rheineck-Walzenhausen funicular. After crossing the Ruderbach, the unique cogwheel track through the Hexenkirchli gorge begins.
Upon arrival in Walzenhausen, hiking shoes need to be tied tighter because here begins the popular Witzwanderweg to Heiden. Around 70 panels tell the best jokes in the Appenzeller dialect and make visitors smile. Besides these amusements, the impressive view of Lake Constance is a highlight. The Witzweg ends in Heiden. A small stroll through the Biedermeier village is definitely worth it.
To complete the circle, the ride with the Rorschach-Heiden funicular back to Rorschach is still missing. Opened in 1875, it is one of the most traditionally tourist funiculars in Switzerland.
If energy is still not spent, a walk along the Lake Constance shore in Rorschach should not be missed.
