Description

Along the rushing Schächenbach, you will discover the typical scattered settlements of the Schächen Valley. A first coffee break is offered in Unterschächen, in one of the cozy inns. With the ride into the Brunni Valley, a fantastic view of the Gross Ruchen, the largest limestone rock face in Europe, opens up to you. Through picturesque coniferous forests, you follow the natural road via Rüti to Alp Brunni. The path now gently climbs over Nider Lammerbach, past the cozy Brunni chapel, to Trogenalp. At the alpine hut, you can expect fine alpine cheese and a genuine Schächen Valley coffee alongside the idyllic view. The return trip takes place on the old road along Hinterschächen. Through species-rich flower meadows and colorful forest sections, you reach the Lauwi homestead, which features lovingly carved wild animals around the hut. Passing the bath chapel, nestled between the steep rock walls of the Brunni Valley, you reach Unterschächen. From here, you take the descent via the Klausenstrasse back to Altdorf on your bike.
