Description
From Haggenschlössli, the marked St. Gallen bridge path leads to the 355 m long and approx. 100 m high Haggenbrücke over the Sitter. Before its confluence into the Urnäsch, the Sitter bridge in Kubel spans the river. High above, trains of the Southeastern Railway and SBB run on viaducts. Over the “speaking” Urnäsch bridge, we leave the St. Gallen bridge path and climb steeply up to Sturzenegg, down to Stösselbach, and to the old Urnäsch ravine bridge. In the hamlet of Moos, it sharply turns left, through the Rachentobel of the Sonderbach and on beautiful meadow paths to the charming village of Stein with a fountain supplying spring water. After descending to the Sitter, the path leads along the picturesque shore, up to Niederteufen and down again to the Wattbach, spanned by one of the two bridges. Over the large Hüslibrücke below the Haggenbrücke, we cross the Sitter and return with Alpine views on the “Ganggelibruck” to Haggen.
